Top Off Your TBR: February 2018 Edition

February is known for hearts and chocolate and romance, so what better to do than read a romance novel (or five) during the month? Here are some of the new books we're looking forward to in February 2018.

the-dark-calling.jpgThe Dark Calling, by Kresley Cole - February 13
This series is like a casserole of 8 addictive ingredients mixed together into a tropey, tarot-inspired, love-triangle mess with cannibals and zombies and an apocalypse. It's fantastic. This is the second-to-last book and they do not stand alone. The first one, Poison Princess, starts off a bit like a vapid high school drama before taking a sharp turn toward bonkersville. The series is listed as YA, but only because the MCs are 18 when it starts.

Dr. Garrett Gibson gets her book! This lady doctor has saved the day twice in this series already, so I'm eager to read her story. I've felt The Ravenels have been lacking some of the charm of her previous books, so I'm cautiously optimistic.

ThePrinceandtheDressmaker.jpgThe Prince & The Dressmaker, by Jen Wang - February 13
This is a beautiful love story that deals with identity, coming out, and fashion. It's worth it for the nonbinary protagonist, the gorgeous dresses, and/or the carefully rendered backgrounds that Wang must have spent countless hours researching and creating. You can read our review here.

a-princess-in-theory.jpgA Princess in Theory, by Alyssa Cole - February 27
Alyssa Cole starts a new series, Reluctant Royals, with a story about an African prince and his skeptical, scientist American betrothed. It starts with - get this - scammy emails telling Naledi that she's engaged to a prince. But it's real! We have a review coming a little later in the month. Bless Alyssa Cole and her beautiful brain.

Ellie of Ellie Reads has this on her list, too! She says:

This is the first book in a new contemporary series of romances
involving royals. I loved the Loyal League series of historical romances by the same author and I can’t
wait to try her contemporaries. This book features main characters of colour and has a most beautiful
cover, how can anyone resist it?

a-duke-in-the-night.jpgA Duke in the Night, by Kelly Bowen - February 20
Kelly Bowen's last series was a twisty, turny, sexy trilogy that convinced me to read everything she writes in the future.  Although the hero in this novel is a duke (yes, another one), I'm excited to read the Headmistress heroine and their enemies-to-lovers conflict over her family's business.

fire-on-the-ice.jpgFire on the Ice, by Tamsen Parker - February 6
We've been trying to mix up the authors in these TBR round-ups but... This is the f/f sports romance that made Tamsen's editor blush on the train. Do you know how hot a book has to be to make a romance editor blush?

Two more anticipated releases suggested by Ellie:

Brooklynaire, by Sarina Bowen - February 12 (19 at iBooks)brooklynaire.jpg
This is the fourth book in her Brooklyn Bruisers series of hockey romances.
It’s about the team owner, tech billionaire Nate, and his assistant Becca. I have been waiting for their romance ever since I met them in the first book.

women-of-war.pngWomen of W.A.R. Series, by Nicola Marsh, Catherine Evans, and Amy Andrews  - February 20
The Women of W. A. R. series includes three sports romances by different authors (Game On by Nicola Marsh, Long Game by Catherine Evans and Fair Game by Amy Andrews), centered around the same female football team. I have love-or- hate relationship with sports romances but I have read very few with female athletes, so I’m very excited to try these. All three books are coming out on Feb 20.
