It's August! I've read a few and want to read a few others, so I'll be giving a few super short reviews below and then the usual list of upcoming releases. It's a big one.

Let me know what you're excited to read this month and again, if you want to join a readers-only community on Discord, I can get you an invite!

Top Off Your TBR: July 2022 Edition

It feels odd to send this out amid all the chaos, devastating news and ongoing systemic ills, but I guess that's the "new normal" we were all so excited to reach.

There is no easy answer, no quick fix. Most of these problems have been around for decades if not centuries and there are folks out there who've been in the work just as long. If you need to find them, let me know and I'll do my best to help. In the coming years it's going to be more important than ever to have small, mobile communities for immediate support and collaborative action. You don't have to do everything, but everyone needs to do something. Pick your thing and start training for the marathon.

A personal update - my family is moving! It's been absolutely overwhelming to finish up grad school for the year and then roll right into selling and buying a home in another state, complete with helping my  children process emotions from the move and another massive school shooting.

If you are a publicist and need my new mailing address or if you are a reader (no authors, please) and want to join a Discord community of other readers, email me at suzanne at loveinpanels dot com.

You're here for the books, so let's get to it.

Top Off Your TBR: May 2022 Edition

Happy May, everyone! I just finished with school for the semester and we're preparing for a big move, so things have been a bit hectic around here. I read a bunch of books out this month, however, so I've written a little about them in this post instead of highlighting my most anticipated picks like I usually do. (Probably back to normal next month.)

It's easy to sink into despair these days, but I'm really glad you're here and that we can still talk about books. It's connection, small moments and the things that bring us joy that'll carry us through. I'm wishing you a rejuvenating spring (season or water source, you choose) and maybe even a picnic with one of these new books!

It's April 7 and I've got the April TBR post up! Yes, it's still a week late but I'm taking my wins where I can these days.

I'm excited to wrap up school for the year and get my hands in the soil. It's been a long winter and I think we all need to touch some grass.

This post is obviously incredibly late. I'd love to say that the April one will be more timely, but I'm not at all able to promise that.

One positive, however, is that I've been able to catch some of the books with delayed releases. This seems to be increasing again and I encourage you to check your pre-orders for updates.

Top Off Your TBR: February 2022 Edition

Happy February! It's that time of year, so the virtual panels are everywhere and it's a glorious thing. Avoid the thinkpieces, embrace the presentations!

I want to specifically call attention to the virtual panel Milwaukee Public Library is holding on February 22:

"Celebrate the release of Black Love Matters - an incisive, intersectional essay anthology that celebrates and examines romance and romantic media through the lens of Black readers, writers, and cultural commentators - with special guests editor and librarian Jessica Pryde, best-selling author Beverly Jenkins, and host of Romance Ever After Allie Parker. Exploring the multifaceted ways love is seen-and the ways it isn't-this diverse array of Black voices collectively shines a light on the power of crafting happy endings for Black lovers. "

This is going to be so great and if you're able to attend, definitely sign up!

Top Off Your TBR: January 2022 Edition

It's 2022 and we're still in a pandemic. I'm tired and grumpy and I'm sure you are, too. But hey, we've got books!

Before we get to the list, I want to let you know I'm making a couple of changes to these posts. For one, I won't be compiling monthly lists over at Bookshop anymore. Folks aren't using them and it seems a misuse of my time. Second, I started making lists over at Amazon. Let me know what you'd like in the future!

I'm wishing you a year full of moments of joy and wonder, and the ability to hold onto those moments amidst the chaos.
